Authors Matt and Ted Lee discussing their widely reviewed book “Hotbox”, relating their experiences in the high profile New York City catering industry

Not since Martha Stewart released her first book in the 1980s has a book about catering captured as much public attention as Matt and Ted Lee’s “Hotbox,” an Amazon Best Book of the Month when published earlier this year. We are very pleased to have the Lee Brothers as our keynote speakers.

Known as award winning cookbook and food magazine writers specializing in Southern cuisine, the Lees more or less stumbled onto the NYC catering industry while attending a James Beard House dinner in 2011. After spending the best part of the last decade studying and working in the catering trade, they wrote the ultimate insider exposé of exactly how the industry works. Some of the stories they tell and methods they reveal may be familiar to those of us in the industry, but were revealed to the public for the first time in this book.

Matt and Ted know they are speaking with a very unique, special audience, so this will not be a rudimentary session about the industry of catering. Instead, they hope to have an open dialogue that offers those in attendance true takeaways. From catering hacks to food waste, from the colorful characters they have met along their journey to why they believe catering is an intrinsic part of American food culture, the two will raise questions and have answers about “the Food World’s Riskiest Business.” We’ll have microphone runners in the audience, so bring your questions!

Note: You must register by October 29th to receive a copy of The Lee Brothers book, Hotbox. The Lee brothers will also be available to autograph copies of their book on the fly, or during a session from 1:00 - 1:30PM on Tuesday.
