Succession in the Catering Industry
For the second year, we will be hosting an open forum on succession planning in our industry. Last year’s session was lively and interesting, and we hope to have an even better turnout this year. This session is open to anyone with an interest in this topic.
Our goal is to help make succession more rational and less random than it has often been in our industry. Anyone on either side of the generational divide who has input on this topic is welcome to join in.
Greg Karl will moderate this session, and provide insight from his own consulting projects working with caterers on succession. We will also have a discussion on the challenges that family businesses face, including:
- Alignment of family interests
- Balancing of financial returns
- Lack of motivation on the part of the next generation
- Estate and Inheritance issues
- Control of the company challenges
